Manufacturing Day Revisited

Thank you for the blog, Jasin!

I hope Manufacturing Day (October 3rd) is going to zoom in importance to the top of the Hallmark Holidays as an economy depends on products, not services. Manufacturing supplies jobs and growth, the backbone of American financial security.

We will not wait until the next MFG Day to open our doors for educational purposes. One Art Teacher that we know, who has an entrepreneurial bend, will bring his classes in for a tour yet this school year- he is just waiting for the time and day! Understanding the many disciplines (sales, design and graphics, systems and logistics, machining, finance and accounting, and human resources) required for merchandise fabrication and thus a successful manufacturing business will underscore to students the importance of education and personal preparation for their own futures.

But in the meantime, Cardinal Manufacturing is constantly developing new manufacturers. Our Fantastic Crew boasts six true millennials, four of which came to us with no experience in Manufacturing. (The rest of us can only boast of being millennial at heart) One millennial crew member is a student studying Computer Numerical Control (CNC programming) and therefore had a drive towards our type of business upon hire. We are proud of him and hope he will stay with us after graduation. We have five employees trained in design, a few of English majors, a philosopher, a machinist, a teacher and a proud graduate of Hard Knocks University. Some people have the desire to produce; we train them how to put their talents into manufacturing.

Pi Day (March 14th) and Speak like a Pirate Day (September 19th) have shifted down in my list of important occasions to celebrate. This day is much more dear to my Cardinal red heart- Happy Manufacturing Day, everyone!

Regards,

Laura
