A little known fact for anyone not in the manufacturing business is that today, October 3rd, is Manufacturing Day.
Keith Blakley, a very close member of the Cardinal family, and our Production Programmer, mentioned he came across this special day by watching How It’s Made. We’re sure all of you know about the show, but for those of you who don’t, How It’s Made is a documentary style TV show on the Science Channel showing how common, everyday items are manufactured. Extremely interested in what he does here at Cardinal, Keith watches just to get ideas.
According to www.mfgday.com:
“MFG DAY addresses common misperceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing is — and what it isn’t. By working together during and after MFG DAY, manufacturers will begin to address the skilled labor shortage they face, connect with future generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry.”
While we found out about this day too late to actually open our doors to future manufacturers, we support the efforts of all those who have participated.
